Ragged Tooth Sharks galore

Winter months sees the return of the Raggies to Aliwal Shoal off South Africa’s east coast. 5km offshore from Scottburgh lies Aliwal Shoal, a natural reef which provides cover for the sharks from the prevailing currents.

We dived on a place known as Cathedral…..at a depth of about 27m, there were plenty of sharks around. IN Cathedral I estimate to be about 70 minimum. It was an awesome dive - the mopst charks I have ever seen on Aliwal.

The final race for the season on the East coast of South Africa. A grueling 42km paddling and the worst of all is the start at Scottburgh is infamous with its big break often taking a few scalps before the paddlers have even attempted the ocean swells. This is a clip of the paddlers at the start breaking throught the surf as they head on out towards Birghton beach on the Bluff.

My video Camera - Panasonic TZ5

Although not a professional videographer, I enjoy the ability to shoot motion, edit and put together a little story to entertain people. Hence, I did not go big when buying a video camera - my limited budget, and the fact that I wanted something small and be able to take it underwater, led me to a little Panasonic point and shoot!!! The Panasonic TZ5 produces awesome quality “HD” video when you think that this is in effect a little point and shoot camera.

Panasonic produces a matching housing and as a result, I can now take it along with me underwater while I shoot stills, and pop in a video here and there….So this video post is here to show these video’s that will feature both underwater and sporting events.

The housing has been modified to take a handle for increased stability under water, and also for a
removable Magic Filter on the front.
