Star Trail over Durban
posted by: anthony in Time Lapse on 03 5th, 2009 | | Comments Off

The plan was to create a star trail in an urban area to see if it is possible due to the fact that there is so much ambient light. Thanks to new technology, digital slr and Photoshop CS3 with its ability to create overlays.

The process took just over 2 hours, with an image taken every 35 seconds, exposure of 30sec at f2.8 with a 16mm fisheye lens on a nikon D300….

Below is the still image after being put through photoshop using overlays to produce a single image from the approximate 150 images taken.

Durban Beachfront Time-Lapse

The start of the Dairy Beach surfski race provided for the perfect opportunity to shoot a time lapse. This time lapse video was shot over an hour and half period and then meshed together using Quicktime pro.

The arrival of all the surfski paddlers was the perfect guise to get the action. Unfortunately the compact flash card filled up before the actual race started, thus missing the emptying of the beach.

Early morning on the main diving beach at Sodwana Bay proovides for the perfect time laps position. All the dive operators arrive early to set up camp and diving gear for all their divers. Then arrive the divers! Kit up, briefings and finally the rush for position on the boat…..then off they go for a dive.

The time lapse was shot over an hour and half, and includes about 1500 images.
